Vegetarian?

I suppose I haven’t eaten meat in a few months now. In fact, I cannot recall the last time I actually consumed meat, until last night. Now, I haven’t declared myself a vegetarian by any means but I have been flirting with the idea. I’m doing my research. I am reading Skinny Bitch (for a second time) and The Kind Diet. I follow healthy living blogs of those who have gone vegetarian or even vegan for that matter and it peaks my interest. I feel the cleaner I eat, the clearer my head and the more energy and zest I have for life.

Last night my parents and I were discussing what to make for dinner while we were setting up their new Mac in their home office. My Dad mentioned his “world famous” meatballs and I was instantly intrigued. I had almost forgotten about this one of a kind recipe which is top secret by the way, sorry. I decided I must partakeĀ is this festive dinner choice. After all, I’m still deciding whether or not I want to be categorized as a vegetarian.

Dinner was superb. We opened a bottle of Montepulciano. When I drink red wine, I usually always go for a Pinot Noir. I prefer a lighter-bodied red to the full-bodied Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon. I was pleasantly surprised with this choice. First, I liked the presentation of the bottle. It was a perfect medium-bodied (in my opinion) wine for this cozy night which was ahead of me.

I made a simple garden salad for us:

  • Romaine lettuce
  • Celery
  • Baby Carrots
  • Tomatoes
  • Green Olives
  • Cucumber

The main course consisted of penne pasta, sweet sausage and my Dad’s “world famous” meatballs.

Dining by candlelight with Norah Jones playing in the background was a logical accompaniment a very wet, rainy evening. It’s the small moments in life.

Wow. It's Quiet Here...
