DUMBO stands for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass. It’s an area consisting of factories, warehouses and dock storehouses most of which have been transformed into trendy shops, dazzling apartment lofts and great food stomping grounds. Let’s not forget the stunning views of Manhattan. I ventured off here recently to capture the moment.
This pizza shop has been on my radar as it’s known as being one of the “best” spots to get pizza in New York. I was excited to finally be in the area and sample. I would even eat dairy for the sake of trying this pizza. Much to my surprise I saw a sign that read NO SLICES. I couldn’t believe my eyes. No slices? What if you are a solo passerby and want to stop in to feed yourself. One is to purchase an entire pie, I think not? Low and behold I went on without my famous slice of Grimaldi’s pizza.
What I forgot to mention was the massive line of folks waiting for their very own taste.
I’ve always wanted to try this place above, Pedro’s. I’m a sucker for a fun, festive Mexican joint.
A light mid-afternoon snack kept me fueled. I stopped at a local organic market shown below.
